VEX Robotics
Students in grades 3-8 have the opportunity to participate in robotics which combines teamwork, engineering, programming, and mental grit to accomplish a designated task. Teams compete in regularly scheduled skills matches with other local schools & home school groups as well as several tournaments that span Wisconsin. Teams that excel in skills and tournaments also may advance onto the state tournament and finally to the World Competition. Click here for more information about VEX robotics.
Math Opportunities
Meet Math is a quarterly math competition sponsored by Martin Luther College. Students take the tests and are scored both as individuals and as a class. Meet Math is a fun way for students to expand their problem solving skills as well as create friendly competition between other area lutheran grade schools.
Students in grades 5-8 also have the opportunity to participate in the FVL Math Bowl held in November each year. Teams of up to 4 students earn individual and team points while answering math questions in competition with teams from other schools.
Spelling Bee
Students in grades 5-8 put their spelling skills to the test in an annual spelling bee. Top students at Riverview may move onto the WELS Regional Spelling Bee where they compete with peers from other Northern Wisconsin District schools.
Forensics
Each year, the middle school students (grades 5-8) have the opportunity to participate in forensics. They spend several weeks preparing their speech, play, poem, or story. Together they work on building confidence, communication, eye contact, gestures, and voice inflection. The forensics events are held in the spring of each year.
